Mental health, often overlooked in the workplace until recent years, is a significant factor when it comes to an employee’s wellbeing as well as their productivity levels.

One study showed that mental health problems are 36 percent more prevalent in manufacturing employees than the national average. Occupational stress and demanding jobs can often lead to burnout and other mental health struggles, which create issues not just on an individual level but for their workplace as well.

Turnover makes that cost even higher; according to the Center for American Progress, the cost of replacing an employee will cost an average of 21 percent of that employee’s salary, and that number is only increasing.

 

In the wake of COVID-19, millions are leaving their current jobs to find new ones that offer better environments, more benefits and greater flexibility. How can you avoid losing your best workers, whether they’re in a corner office or the plant floor? To find out, the first thing we need to understand is why employees leave in the first place.

Sustainability Drives the Future of Supply Chains

The best time for companies across the globe to focus on environmental sustainability was about 20 years ago, but the second best time is now. For the past decade or so, many companies’ sustainability efforts have gone from being an afterthought to a priority. “Going green” is no longer a bonus for businesses but an expectation.

With mounting pressure from climate-conscious consumers, government regulations and investors, businesses have little choice but to address their environmental impact and sustainability.
